X Factor gets biggest ever audition tour: Find out how to apply

By
The X Factor 2014's audition tour is going to be the show's biggest ever, visiting 43 towns and cities with open auditions and a Mobile Audition Tour.

Successful auditionees will win the chance to perform for Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole when the full judges auditions start in the summer.

The open auditions start on April 5 in Dublin and then visit Plymouth, Cardiff, London, Birmingham. Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool.

"The last time I was on the show we discovered One Direction, Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson," said Cowell.

"This year we're visiting more towns and cities than ever across the UK to find the next pop star ready to take on the world. So if you're thinking about auditioning, just do it!"

Cole added: "If you do something original or a good remix or something that makes people sit up and listen, that's always a good start. So go and do some research, find some unique ways of singing songs we're already aware of."

Meanwhile, the Mobile Audition Tour, which is how 2012 champion James Arthur was discovered, is visiting 34 locations. Acts are advised to turn up early for the mobile auditions, because they will be done on a first come first served basis and producers can't guarantee that everyone will get seen.
