The 21-year-old invited his younger sister Sarah to attend the auditions with him for moral support, and felt "peeved" when he had to team up with her.
"Sarah had only come along to support me in auditions and suddenly we were duetting. I was a bit peeved," Sean told The People. "I felt she'd stolen my thunder but I'm happy about it now."
"We used to tear each other's hair out as kids. I hated it when she decided she wanted to sing," he admitted. "I was meant to be the singer. I always beat her in competitions. This is the first time we've done it together. But we've got to make it work."
Sean also claimed that he and Sarah are being neglected by their mentor Simon Cowell, who has been concentrating on boy group Futureproof.
"Simon gives Futureproof more time," Smith complained. "He wants them to bond."
