Music mogul Cowell has decided that he wants Jackson to follow in the footsteps of last year's winner Leona Lewis, who broke records with her debut record Spirit following a year away from the spotlight.
"Simon told me they're going to take their time with the album," a spokeswoman for the Syco label told The Guardian. "It's not going to be rushed out and it's not going to be a covers album."
