Our quest to find the ultimate singing star from all nine series continues this evening with a contest between two very different acts - Leona Lewis and the ever unpredictable Jedward. Let battle commence!
Leona Lewis (Series 3 champion) vs Jedward (Series 6) finalist
For a long time, Leona Lewis was the rock that held X Factor's reputation together. When critics questioned the show's ability to make stars and not 15 minutes of famers, and score chart success rather than one-single-wonders, Simon Cowell would answer back with two words, Leona and Lewis.
Leona was the runaway winner in series three. A weak series for talent, there was nobody who could touch her huge vocals and soul. Question marks remain about whether she's left it too long with her new material and her personality has never made her the nation's sweetheart, but with lungs like Leona's who needs tabloid headlines?
Jedward went from villains to heroes on series six of the X Factor. Joe McElderry may have won the series, but Jedward's hair, bouncing-off-the-walls energy, bizarre song choices and ability to annoy Simon Cowell ended up making them the real stars of the show.
Since leaving the show, they've released albums, done more reality telly and competed in Eurovision... twice. Credibility may still be some way off and there are plenty who are sick of the sight of this wacky duo, but they are showing no signs of going anywhere and their career looks stronger than many so-called X Factor 'winners'.
