'X Factor' Guilty Pleasures week - Live Blog

By
It's guilty pleasures night on the X Factor. We're not entirely sure how that differs from every other Saturday night on ITV1 (we always feel a bit guilty after three minutes of Louis Walsh), but that's the theme and they're sticking with it.

It probably means an even bigger ladle of cheese on Chris Maloney and a mix of dancefloor bangers and syrupy '80s power ballads for the rest.

Digital Spy will be recapping all the drama as it happens, so stick with us from 8pm when Dermot O'Leary kicks off the action.

The X Factor Results Show: The judges

21:18Well, after a brief recap from Dermot, that's all for tonight! It's been fun, folks! Don't forget to vote for your favourite (Rylan, obvs) and join us back here tomorrow for the results. Night everyone!

21:15Nicole, meanwhile, keeps coming out with even more mad linguistic creations. We think the OED will be sticking Ja-jazzle and Sch'amazing in next year...

21:13Do have to agree with Tulisa that Jahmene has become even more confident each week, which quite frankly is lovely to watch. He even threw in some choreographed arm swings a la Ella Henderson tonight. Bravo!

21:12Louis dishes out his "born recording star", "Ray Charles" comments. Mega yawn.

21:12The offcuts from Derm's trousers were stitched together to give Jahmene a rather fetching scarf as he gives another powerful, brilliant and maybe a little bit boring rendition of 'Don't Leave Me This Way'.

21:10The "fighting little lamb chop" (what?) that is Jahmene is up now. He's had a brilliant week - and no, not because he performed in Paris. ASDA named a Chicken Chow Mein dish after their alumnus and called it the Chicken Jahmene. It literally doesn't get any better than that.

21:02Brilliantly, The Maloney makes some dodgy remark about his own eyes and makes himself laugh a scarily large amount. Almost a cackle. I'd class that as a cackle. Dermot is not laughing.

21:01The judges' comments are so incredibly backhanded, as Louis admits he must be doing something right and Tulisa has admitted defeat. Is it all part of Cowell's ploy to get the judges to dish out bland as beige comments to dodge controversy and get him sent home through sheer blandness? Discuss.

20:59A little creepy? Nicole - very creepy. Let's be honest, it was very creepy...

20:59Completely standard gorgonzola fare from Baloney as he sings 'Total Eclipse of The Heart' and the hand-shakes and hip-bops are back.

20:57More awkward VT that seems to show the contempt Gary has for him. Oh dear.

20:56Christopher, inexplicably, sings 'A Whole New World' at Disneyland. Why is he the only one singing a Disney song? Strange.

20:56The VT between Barlow and Maloney is absolutely the most awkward and cringe-worthy of all the judge/mentee meetings. Hands. Down.

20:55"Oh yes, oh yes," says Gary, stating that 'Christopher' and 'Maloney' are the two most feared words in the building. If what you've been reading all week is true, then, well, yes...

20:52Surely that was one of the best moments of the series so far! Whatever writers are - allegedly, of course - feeding the judges their lines could never come up with anything as brilliant as that. I'm still in awe of Clark.

20:50All hell breaks LOOSE! Rylan spins about and shouts that he definitely wasn't Gary in his Take That tribute act as he was too skinny, which gets Gary charging after him and all the judges on their feet stomping about. Even unflappable Lou-Lou. Absolutely genius. We thought the evening had peaked at Dermot's silver harem pants but we were oh so wrong. For more sch'amazeballs moments like that, everyone needs to VOTE RYLAN!

20:49Rylan admits he has never admitted to being the best singer, but that "proper" popstars do all of that AND mime. Well, he does have a point...

20:47Gary predicts that in a couple of months, Rylan won't be famous and that "it's got to be over now, surely". C'mon, Gaz-Baz. CBB, I'm a Celebrity - the sky's the limit!

20:46For a sheer balls-out performance (paraphrasing Nicole), I loved 'When Will I Be Famous'. Louis rolls out his "camp as Christmas" comment again. Sigh. Has he run out of bonkers things to say? C'mon, Louis, step it up!

20:45Rylan somehow manages to top his 'Gold' ensemble with LCD trews, Devey shoulder pads and gives a loving tribute to OK Go's 'Here it Goes Again' music vid...

20:43"Watch out, he's gone international!" says Rylan. Jedward have done the same. Eurovision really can't be too far away for the Essex lad, can it?

20:42Nicole declares Rylan is "everyone's guilty pleasure", with Gary chipping in: "Not everyone's". Well, Gary, he's mine! Have to admit to hating RC at the beginning, but I'm ashamed to say he's just got more camptacular and brilliant every week.

20:40Dermot takes even more cool points away from The X Factor by mentioning Ed Balls, which Nicole finds hilare, shouting "Vote for Balls!". Please, no, we don't want Ed for PM, Scherzy...

20:38I'm also wondering if James was dedicating 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' to The Flackster? Cringe.

20:34Meanwhile, Gary cements his feelings for The Maloney as he says he wants James to actually win the show. He also veers slightly into crush territory as he labels every quality he loves about him.

20:32We're back with the X Factor bingo, Tulisa "credible" and Louis "definitely a recording artist".

20:32James is again with the guyliner and guitar, which thankfully occupies his hands and stops him from pulling at his clothes like he's claustrophobic or a frustrated nudist.

20:29James tells Nicole that the thought of going to Disneyland is "sick". We're just going to leave that one there.

20:28James and Rylan's bromance steps up a gear with a romantic trip on the Eurostar to Paris.

20:27I'm really missing James Arthur's NHS glasses. Where have they gone? A shame.

20:26"I am not a WAG" protests Tulisa, a little too strongly as bosom-buddy Louis brings newspaper headlines to the table. Again. Probably the only thing he really brings to the table if I'm honest.

20:25Nicole looks a bit bemused and confused as she gives some equally bemusing and confusing comments that the crowd are unsure whether to boo or applaud...

20:24Ella gives an almost unrecognisable and, eugh, "stripped-back" rendition of 'You're The One That I Want' from possibly the cheesiest film of all time. But, I have to say, it was a lot more bearable than the original!

20:22"Lil Ella" screams her bonce off at the Twilight premiere - something she actually seems genuinely interested in. And she seems a lot more enthused to be within 50 feet of R-Patz and K-Stew compared to her awkward meet 'n' greet with the Kardashians last week...

20:19Tulisa introduces Ella as her "lil star", just like her "lil muffins". Why oh why does she insist everyone's a "lil" something? She's getting as bad as Lou-Lou.

20:14In an odd admission, Gaz-Baz says he loves a bit of Carly Rae while Nicole hates the "box" staging. In a separate issue, who's that one on the second right? We feel as though we've never seen him before - despite sporting a very dodgy Walsh polo-neck.

20:10The One Direction platform is getting another airing as Union J make an irritating song more unbearable in 'Call Me Maybe'. Although as it is Guilty Pleasures night, we're going to have to get used to this sort of malarkey over the next hour or so...

20:08A trip to Disneyland, and for the four little 'uns, it all proves to be a bit too exciting. Wee George sporting some mad monkey onesie is ill after all those scary rides. Speaking of which, are comedy Mickey gloves allowed on Space Mountain? Health and safety much?

20:06So Union J are up first. It's a Christmas miracle, but little Lou-Lou actually manages to remember all four of their names. All four! Maybe he had them written on his hand? We can still only name George Shelley...

20:05And if Dermot's giving us an epic rendition of the MC Hammer dance now, what the flip does he have up his silvery sleeve for the final? We can only hope he will be borrowing more clothes from Rylan in the near future.

20:03The best Dermot Dance EVER! In seven weeks, that was the best thing we've actually seen. Sch'mazing...

20:01Plus, we get to see Nicole do the splits on the judges' table while a nation of dads go a bit quiet in the corner.

20:01'Gangnam Style' - a song we haven't heard for about eight minutes and the epitome of guilty pleasure.

20:00It's week seven (seven? How did that happen?) and time. To FACE. THE MUSIC. But before that, we're treated to a strange time-travelling recap of last weekend's highlights, including Nicole getting up on the table and an overtly ridiculous use of echo, echo, echo as the judges make their comments, comments, comments...
