'X Factor' Guilty Pleasures - results show: Live blog

By
There are only six acts left. Another one will be thrown on the X Factor scrapheap tonight. But who is it going to be?

Christopher Maloney will once again have to defy the odds to ensure that he isn't in the bottom two, where he would surely end up as toast. His best chance of survival would come in a Rylan/Union J-shaped sing-off - will fans of the cheesy Liverpudlian get their wish?

Digital Spy will be bringing you live updates on all the action this evening - which includes a guest performance from Olly Murs (imaginative booking) - and our own verdict on the final results.

21:10Goodnight! See you next Saturday.

21:09Oh, and Tulisa - don't tell us how to vote, dear. That's what you get for saving Rylan.

21:09That's all, folks. Make sure you leave your suitably angry and outraged responses to tonight's results at the bottom of the page.

21:08The result means that Nicole has all three acts in the quarter-final (an X Factor first) and Jahmene is suddenly the runaway favourite. Only Jahmene and Maloney have not been in the bottom two. And Maloney couldn't win. Could he? Could he!

21:07In summary, Ella Henderson, former show favourite, has been sent packing. She squealed some high notes in the sing-off and lost out in Deadlock to James Arthur. She came bottom of the public vote, against the likes of Rylan, Union J and Christopher Maloney. We guess she can't ever have been that popular.

21:06Apologies, my computer just crashed at the worst time possible. It was almost as if my laptop fainted in horror at the results.

20:55Tulisa gives us a lecture on who we should vote for. Shush your mush, Tulisa. We'll vote for who we want.

20:52James Arthur performs a cover of Alicia Keys's 'Fallin'. He howls and barks like a good 'un. If you like James Arthur, you'll have loved that. One of his best performances on the show. He edged it for us over Ella with that sing-off.

20:48Ella's performance is generally strong, apart from when she reaches for some notes that are approximately 456 times too high for her.

20:48Tulisa has her best sulky pout on as she introduces Ella Henderson. She then wheels out the big guns and sheds some tears.

20:46Would Nicole Scherzinger feel at all guilty if she lost James Arthur ahead of Rylan? Surely a teeny bit.

20:42Well, as the judges always say, you can't complain if you don't vote.

20:42Ella Henderson is taking on James Arthur in the sing-off. Christopher Maloney defied the odds once again. Incredible scenes and significant booing from the studio audience.

20:40OMFG!

20:40Jahmene is through as well. As expected.

20:39Rylan is safe. *Bigger shock face*.

20:39Union J are SAFE. *shock face*

20:38Going home, in no particular order, stupidly long pauses... yadda yadda.

20:37Before the final results, we've got time for a cheesy montage sequence. Ella doesn't want to go back to school. Chris Maloney has a nan. Jahmene doesn't want to go back to ASDA because he used to feel "lost" and he's doing it for his mum. Rylan is happy being on TV. Union J don't want to go home. Blubathon.

20:34Final chance to make a bet on who is going home? If I was a gambling man, I'd go for Maloney. But I'm not and I'm usually wrong, so who knows?

20:29Alicia Keys stands out like a diamond in a dog turd compared to this year's X Factor acts. How we long for someone with similar passion as Miss Keys. Not just timid teens and media-trained bores.

20:27It's Alicia Keys guest slot time. A real touch of class on the show. Finally.

20:26Dermot has a quick chat with the acts backstage. Union J giggle. James Arthur mumbles about "really wanting to get through" and Chris Maloney does his best "thanks to all the people" plea. Ella and Jahmene are "growing as people" and don't sound at all media trained. *Harry Hill sideways looks to the camera*

20:22We're already a little teeny big excited about the idea of Christopher Maloney surviving AGAIN. He couldn't? Could he?

20:19Olly Murs has a chain attached to his trousers. That must be what he keeps an X Factor booker locked in his basement with. That's the only explanation. Oh, and we guess the fact people keep buying his records helps as well. Tsk. People.

20:16Olly Murs is singing. Cheeky chappy Olly Murs. Doing cheeky hip wiggles. Cheeky leg flicks. Cheeky lady dancers. Oh, he's so cheeky.

20:14Following the regulation awkward and truncated chat between Dermot and the judges, it's time for the first guest act of the night. Who is it? It's Olly Murs, of course. A tricky booking. I wonder how they persuaded the Xtra Factor host to appear?

20:11The judges appear to be backing James Arthur. The bookies are backing Jahmene Douglas. Ella has been in the running from week one. It's a three-way battle for the title this year, right?

20:09And now it's recap time. Just in case you missed it yesterday. Which I'm sure you didn't.

20:08Chris Maloney has come dressed like a maths teacher at a Christmas party.

20:07Ah, the group performance. A chance for the final six acts to look as uncomfortable as a cat sat on a porcupine.

20:04Here come the judges. Louis dressed in black and looking dour. Tulisa gives her cleavage a wiggle and the audience a wink. Nicole Scherzinger has her tummy and leg out and blows us all a kiss. Gary just looks confused.

20:03Let's take this rare moment of calm to salute Dermot O'Leary. Amid the screaming, the tears and the ludicrous panto drama, we often forget about cuddly Derm. He's been a beacon of light and cheeky humour amid much mediocre dross this year.

20:01Special guests tonight? Alicia Keys - yay! Olly Murs - meh!

20:00Strictly just had Richard Arnold in tears, Kylie Minogue doing 'The Locomotion', and Girls Aloud. So, even with Rylan and Louis Walsh in the house, there is no way The X Factor can be the most camp show on TV tonight.

19:59Evening all! How you diddling?
