Speaking on spinoff show It Takes Two, Horwood suggested that Sergeant's personality would sway the public vote in his favour.
Watching footage of Sergeant's rehearsal with professional partner Kristina Rihanoff, Horwood said: "Not looking wild. It looks as though he's concentrating an awful amount. A little bit toe-hoppy, skippy. I'm slightly concerned. I know he's got a fantastic character and he'll be smiling and it'll all be fantastic - I'm just worried technically about how much he can achieve."
Karen Hardy, who partnered Gary Rhodes before his exit, disagreed with Horwood, complimenting Sergeant on his "bounce action".
"He's got a nice bounce action because he uses his knees," she said. "He's not using his ankles. He's a little bit ahead of Kristina but as long as he holds on to her gorgeous hips he won't go far wrong."
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
