Mandelson interested in 'Strictly' role

Labour politician Peter Mandelson has said that he is interested in appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking to the BBC, the business secretary said that he watched political reporter John Sergeant on the show with "a degree of envy".

When asked whether he would consider partaking in the dance contest, he answered: "It would be nice to be asked."

Mandelson declined the opportunity to show off his dance skills, claiming it was inappropriate because he was supposed to be discussing the current state of the UK economy.

"Not this morning because it's too serious, but another day invite me back and I will show you what I can do," he said.
