The Argentinean footballer claimed that his tango skills would raise the standard of dancing seen so far on the BBC One reality series.
Speaking to The Sun, Tevez explained: "I could bring something to the show they've never seen before - real, authentic dancing from Argentina."
He added: "I can't see the gaffer giving me time off. I think I'll have to wait until I retire."
The tango originated in Argentina in the nineteenth century before its popularity spread worldwide.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in the autumn and will once again be presented by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly.
