The comedian spoke out in the aftermath of the ageism row which surrounded Strictly Come Dancing following the axing of Arlene Phillips in favour of Alesha Dixon.
Norton is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "It's harder for women because there are lots of young women on telly and there aren't lots of old women on telly. But there are lots of older men. Something's going on."
The BBC One chatshow host also spoke about the struggles of 54-year-old Jo Wood on the current series of Strictly.
Commenting on her failure to impress the judges, he said: "She's being humiliated."
Norton defended the BBC's broadcasting as "brilliant" in an interview with DS earlier this month.
