Bussell's jive receives standing ovation

WENN

Darcey Bussell won a standing ovation from her fellow Strictly Come Dancing judges for her first foray into ballroom dancing tonight.

The former prima ballerina of the Royal Ballet was partnered by Ian Waite for the jive, having earlier confirmed that she would be briefly coming out of retirement for the opportunity.

Bussell, who joined the BBC One show's judging panel last week, admitted that she was nervous about returning to the dancefloor.

Following the performance, Waite said that he had fulfilled a lifetime ambition while host Bruce Forsyth asked if he could partner Bussell next.

Judges Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon gave their verdict on the performance by joining audience members in giving Bussell, 40, a standing ovation.
