The BBC Breakfast presenter claimed that he had "mixed emotions" after he knocked out Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna in the semi-final.
"Brian and Ali were awesome and some people have said that I took their place, so I do feel a bit guilty," he told It Takes Two.
"Someone called a radio show I was on and said that I had ruined their weekend. I'm really glad that people are so passionate about it, but I must admit that I have mixed emotions about it right now.
"We will do everything we have got to prove that we deserve a place in the final."
Hollins's professional partner Ola Jordan added: "I was very shocked [about Saturday]. I was not prepared for it at all. I thought that was our last two dances. Obviously, I'm very happy, but I was very surprised."
The Strictly final airs on Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
