Cole: 'Strictly changes could be great'

Brendan Cole has claimed that Strictly Come Dancing's latest revamp could be "great" for the show.

Last week, it was announced that Darren Bennett, Lilia Kopylova, Ian Waite and Matthew Cutler will have reduced roles on the next series, appearing in a special dance group rather than being partnered with celebrities. Brian Fortuna was also offered a place in the troupe but instead chose to quit the programme.

The shake-up comes as US So You Think You Can Dance star Artem Chigvintsev, High School Musical dancer Jared Murillo and Burn The Floor's Robin Windsor are introduced to the lineup of professionals.

Speaking on GMTV this morning, Cole commented: "They want to change the show and make it a little bit fresher, which could be a great thing. Change is always good. Not too much, but just enough to keep things different and moving along."

He added: "It's always good to keep evolving. How much is the question. Let's see if they get it right."

Cole has been a professional dancer on Strictly since the first series in 2004.
