According to The Sun, the popstar was approached by producers but is unable to take part because the show clashes with his forthcoming arena tour.
A source told the newspaper: "Strictly really wanted Peter Andre. He's got a massive fan base and would be a huge draw for the show."
Despite ruling out this year's series, it is thought that Andre has indicated that he may be willing to take part in 2011 when he expects to have more time.
Meanwhile, boxer Lennox Lewis is also said to have rejected an approach from show bosses because he wants to keep his reputation as a serious sportsman.
Strictly producers are now reportedly hoping to sign up EastEnders actress Tiana Benjamin (Chelsea Fox) and her former co-stars Charlie Clements (Bradley Branning) and Rob Kazinsky (Sean Slater) for the new series. Hollyoaks' Carley Stenson (Steph Cunningham) is also apparently being considered for the contest.
