Rihanoff backs 'fabulous' Tointon

Pro dancer Kristina Rihanoff has called on the public to get behind Kara Tointon on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Russian, who was knocked out of the competition with Goldie in the first elimination, said that Tointon's quickstep last week had left her stunned at the actress's athleticism.

"I really want to mention Kara and Artem," she told iVillage. "They did such a fabulous quickstep and I was so impressed by Kara's cartwheel - even I can't do that!

"I've been lucky enough to get to know her a little over the last few weeks and, believe it or not, she's a very shy girl. I worry that because she's not very open and emotional, maybe people will take it the wrong way but, like most of us, she's just lacking in confidence.

"Artem is working hard to boost her confidence as she's a fabulous dancer. I want people to know that she is a really sweet girl - I think most people know her character in EastEnders, but she's the total opposite!"

Rihanoff will perform a special dance routine with Robin Windsor during Saturday's guest appearance from Neil Diamond.
