The actress was forced out of last week's show after falling ill with chickenpox, but will return this weekend to perform a puppet-inspired Charleston with Jared Murillo.
Speaking on It Takes Two, the ex-Coronation Street star said: "It's so good to be back. It was a really weird situation with everyone saying get better soon when I was watching at home.
"I was so looking forward to the rumba and it had been our best week ever in training. I felt really upset that I wasn't doing it with Jared."
On her return to training on Tuesday, she joked: "It was like when you are at school, you have a summer holiday and then you go back and you can't write. My body was all jittery and it still is, but I'm getting there slowly."
During a training VT, O'Brien added: "The Charleston seems to be more about having fun. It's a much more energetic routine and less style and head. A really nice routine to come back to after being poorly. I'm better now and back."
