Strictly Come Dancing bosses apparently want Ann Widdecombe to begin her performance this week by entering on a horse.

The Sun reports that the opening is being planned to top last week's, which saw the former Conservative MP make her entrance on a high-wire.

The paper claims that bosses initially wanted to use an elephant but had to change their plans due to health and safety. If the 63-year-old is unhappy with the suggestion, she may be carried onto the dancefloor on a throne by male dancers instead.

A source added: "It would be great for her to ride in. It depends what she is up for doing. Ann is very strong-minded."

Widdecombe has also insisted that she will not quit the BBC programme like John Sergeant did in 2008.

"I will not be doing a John. I think what he did was rude, to be honest," she said. "I will be there until people want to see the back of me."

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.25pm on BBC One.
