The former Holby City actress found herself in the bottom two, along with rugby player Gavin Henson.
Before the results were revealed, Kensit joked to host Claudia Winkleman that she thought she'd be eliminated in the first week, even though the first cut would actually take place in week two.
When Tess Daly revealed that Kensit and partner Robin Windsor were heading home, the two embraced, and the former soap actress thanked her "beautiful" dance partner for his support.
She added: "I've had the most incredible time. I have to thank everyone that voted for us. It’s been the most beautiful experience."
Kensit also thanked the BBC for providing her with "the best present ever" after she decided to leave Holby City, also broadcast on the network.
She capped off her final speech by addressing the camera directly, saying: "To my boys at home, you’ve got your mum back now!"
Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
