Speaking on Richard Bacon's Five Live show, the Capital FM DJ and Mud Men presenter said that he was "phenomenal" mover on the dancefloor.
"I get offered Strictly every year and I am a phenomenal dancer, I genuinely am. When I'm in the zone... ask anyone," he said. "Even my wife, who doesn't particularly like me, she'd say, 'Say what you like about my husband, but he is a phenomenal dancer'."
When probed further about why he would not take part in the BBC One reality show, he added: "Because number one, it would make it ridiculous for the other contestants. I really am that good. Number two I have a severed cruciate ligament. Number three, I'm lazy. Number four, I like my weekends with the kids."
On the subject of appearing on other reality shows, he added: "I'd do one if I could learn to do something good. Something like I'm A Celebrity Blacksmith. I'd like to be a smithy. Or one of the cooking ones, like Celebrity MasterChef, where you learn something."
