Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon has predicted that Russell Grant could be a surprise success on the show.

The 'Boy Does Nothing' singer insisted that the 60-year-old astrologer had the necessary skills to win over viewers of the BBC contest.

"Everyone is writing him off early, but I've heard he's a groover," she told The Mirror. "You can't assume anything with Strictly."

Dixon added that although she was looking forward to continuing with her musical endeavours, Strictly had become her top priority for now.

"I'm just beginning work on my next album and I'm writing," she revealed. "Then I've got some acting projects in the pipeline. But until Strictly's over I can't even think about the next project."

Dixon told Digital Spy that she will not tolerate slackers on this year's series of Strictly.

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 6.05pm on BBC One.
