Nancy Dell'Olio has refuted allegations that she dislikes fellow Strictly Come Dancing star Edwina Currie.

According to reports last month, Dell'Olio clashed with the former Conservative MP for not being "glamorous enough".

However, the Italian lawyer insisted to This Morning that she "had no idea" what the media were referring to.

Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, she said: "I have been living in this country for ten years now and I know the game that the media play.

"So this was created probably for the audience... I have no idea what they are talking about, I would never say something like that. I think it's not fair on Edwina.

"I am currently meeting and getting to know her. She's a wonderful person. Of course [I didn't say those things], this is not my style. I am perfectly fine with Edwina - there are so many other things actually that are far more interesting."

Of her performance on Saturday, for which she scored only 12, she confessed: "I was a little bit disappointed.

"But in the end I was having fun and it was my first time on the dance floor with a partner on Strictly and the pressure of live TV with millions of people watching show."

Dell'Olio continued: "And anything can happen. But when you start from the bottom you can only go up!"

Meanwhile, she said of the judges: "I think they were quite intimidated, they didn't say that much! But they were right... something went wrong.

"The problem was the feather boa, it was completely out of my control. And that created a moment and we lost time and the few seconds that you lose the rhythm and steps, but that's TV!"
