Savage responded on Twitter earlier this week to viewer complaints about his Michael Jackson-inspired dance moves, but the former footballer confessed on Daybreak this morning that the criticism is bringing him down.

"I've had a bit of bad press this week. It's got me down really because you know my football career - people said nasty things about me really. And I've just gone out there... if I offended anybody I didn't mean to," he said.
"I just went out there and have fun and surely that's what it's about?"
Savage continued: "My little 5-year-old boy... I'll look around the house and he was doing the Michael Jackson thrusting. He's 5, he does the moonwalk and he loves it.
"He went home and said 'Daddy', and he was doing it for me in the kitchen. You know, I don't want to offend anybody, I just want to have fun."
Savage and his pro partner Ola Jordan will be dancing a waltz this weekend to a Take That track.
