Russell Grant has revealed that the cannon in which he appeared on Saturday night's episode of Strictly Come Dancing had no safety harness.
The astrologer, who was fired out of the cannon during the BBC One show's Wembley special, explained how the prop worked during an appearance on ITV1 breakfast show Daybreak.

Grant said: "The worst thing about it... is that in fact, it was shaped like a coffin... Then I saw this little thing - it was like a little tea tray.
"Now, although I've lost a lot of weight, I am not light. I had to go on this tea tray, and I said to her, 'Where's the safety harness?' and she said, 'There isn't one. You just lie on it', so up I went."
While watching a video clip from his routine, Grant added: "But you know Alex Jones, darling Alex Jones, said, 'You know what you look like, love, you look like a Care Bear in a helmet'. And I do, look! I mean, they should be selling little Russ dolls!
"I just loved it, I just loved the show. I loved doing that. And I'd like to do it now. Anyone like to give me a lift?"
Grant also opened up about his time caring for his late grandmother and explained how music, dance and drama provided him with motivation to lose weight and improve his quality of life.
He also said that he will be taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special, which will feature competitors including EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks, Blue singer Simon Webbe and former Hi-Di-Hi star Su Pollard.
