Jason Donovan has claimed that Strictly Come Dancing's ratings success this year has been down to the casting.
The Australian actor and singer talked about the show's ratings victory over X Factor on Saturday nights, but played down the rivalry between the two reality shows.
"[The success is] all about the cast. It is a soap opera. It is a panto," said Donovan. "I would say I think Strictly and X Factor are two very different shows. Whether there is an audience crossover, I don't know. But I do think it comes down to the casting."
Donovan's rival finalist Harry Judd joked: "And you [Jason]!"
Strictly Come Dancing, which is available to watch in 3D this weekend, kicks off at 7pm on Saturday (December 17) on BBC One.
