Horwood commented during the series premiere that he was hoping Denise Van Outen would be able to "calm James's mouth down" this year.
Responding to the gibe, Jordan claimed that he would still stand up for his celebrity partner when Horwood gets "personal" about the performances on the show.
"The only time I say anything is if things get personal," said Jordan. "You can talk about the celebrities and their dancing and do it in a positive and constructive way. You can do it in a nice way. But don't ever get personal.
"That's my line and that's my argument with Craig."
Van Outen said that she wasn't concerned about Horwood's ongoing rivalry with Jordan, commenting: "I'm not worried about Craig. When I've done shows, I've been reviewed and had press nights and I've had some terrible reviews.
"You just have to dust yourself off and get on with it and do a better job next week."
Jordan and Horwood's spat escalated during last year's series over comments he made about Alex Jones's performances on the show and the pair also fell out when the judge dropped Jordan and his wife Ola from the show's tour.
Strictly returns on October 5 and 6 on BBC One.
