'Strictly' Dani Harmer: 'I was terrified on Saturday night'

Children's TV actress Dani Harmer has revealed how she struggled with nerves during her first live show performance on Strictly Come Dancing on the weekend.

Harmer and Vincent Simone earned a mixed response from the judges for their waltz, and she was criticised for not smiling during the dance. The Tracy Beaker star blamed her early faults and lack of a smile on backstage fears.

"I was so scared. That was the most terrified I've ever been in my life," Harmer told It Takes Two. "But I know I have to start smiling more and I know I will.

"I was definitely better in rehearsals. It all really did get to me. My knees were knocking."

The duo are dancing a salsa this weekend and Simone believes that the routine is better suited to Harmer, claiming that it will allow her to be a bit more "funky".

Joking about their problems with lack of height, the Italian pro added: "We have to work harder because everything is further away. We have to work on speed. That's going to be our thing."
