'Strictly' Darcey Bussell: 'I was as nervous as the dancers'

New Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell has claimed that she was as nervous as the celebrities at the start of Saturday's first live show.

Bussell has replaced Alesha Dixon on this year's judging panel and the former ballet star admitted that performing a routine during the launch show had left her "terrified".

"Saturday was very exciting, a bit buzzy, a bit nervewracking. I was as nervous as the dancers," she told It Takes Two.

Commenting on her launch show dance with Ian Waite, she added: "Cameramen are running around you, lights are flashing on the stage, I had been injured last year... I was terrified."

Bussell said that her judge co-stars Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood had been "spoiling me rotten" behind the scenes and also revealed what she was looking for from the celebrity dancers.

"I want them to fall in love with dance," she said. "I want them to feel it in their heart."
