"Lisa is doing great. What a joy to see her go out on that first show and nail it. It is so nerve-racking in the first few weeks," Baker told The Sun.
"So for her to cope with the nerves and go out with a smile on her face is incredible."
He added: "It's great to see Louis Smith in the lineup, too. I've known him for years. We met when he was on Blue Peter when he was about 14 years old.
"My advice is to make the most of those dances and love every minute. When it gets difficult, don't worry about it. It's meant to be hard. The dance-off is a good addition. You see the people fighting to stay in and I think it's healthy."
Baker will accompany six youngsters as they complete the Rickshaw Challenge for BBC Children In Need next month.
