The former Westlife singer admitted he was pleased to "get one up" on manager Louis Walsh and X Factor boss Simon Cowell, whose label the group left in March 2011 prior to their split.
"I haven't seen Louis to tease him about the ratings but as soon as I see him for a beer we'll have a good chat and have a laugh about it," he told The Sun. "Louis is never one to avoid a bit of banter.
"I was delighted to be on the show that was the bigger one. Obviously I was signed to Syco records for years so it was nice to get one up on them on the show."
Byrne was voted out of Strictly yesterday (December 9) over Denise Van Outen and has since suggested that he was unfairly marked by judge Craig Revel Horwood.
Last night also saw the ninth series of The X Factor draw to a close with a peak of 12.5m viewers watching James Arthur crowned winner, the lowest ratings for a final since 2005.
