Vanessa Feltz has been confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2013, while the likes of Abbey Clancy, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Teri Hatcher are rumoured to have signed up.

"I would have loved to have done the show but unfortunately they didn't want me," Adlington told The Mirror.

"They didn't think I would fit in with the balance of the people. I met them but it didn't work out this time. I will still be glued to it every weekend though, I'm a big fan."

The 24-year-old gold medallist added that she has missed out on some of the more commercial opportunities offered to fellow Olympians like Victoria Pendleton - who competed on Strictly last year - and Jessica Ennis since London 2012.

"I don't think I'd fit into the beauty advertising bracket as much," she claimed. "Vicky's absolutely stunning, same with Jess Ennis. For me, I don't have the same beauty and looks as them."

Controversial comedian Frankie Boyle has made comments about Adlington's appearance in the past. Watch her discuss the incident with Digital Spy below:
