The Britain's Got Talent judge revealed that he has been taking dance lessons with Miranda Hart for his upcoming Christmas TV film Gangsta Granny.
The pair play a Strictly-obsessed couple in the BBC One adaptation of his children's book, and he said he may give the real show a go "one day".
Speaking to Radio Times, Walliams said: "I think it's the one show that would be fun to do. You don't have to eat kangaroo testicles at any point - unless, of course, you want to.
"And there's no humiliation involved. You can be rubbish at it but the public can still like you and find you entertaining. So maybe one day."
Talking about his dance lessons, he added: "We got a bit carried away, and started asking the producer who was better. Really annoyingly, she said Miranda."
Gangsta Granny will air on BBC One during the Christmas period, and will also star Rob Brydon and Joanna Lumley.
David Walliams will host this year's British Fashion Awards on December 2 at the London Coliseum.
