The presenters told new! that variety acts seem to have a more difficult time on the reality talent show.
Donnelly said: "We've had a singer [win], we've had a dancer, so maybe a stand-up comedian or a magician. Not that too many magicians have made the grade. The judges seem to hate magicians.
"Simon often judges an act on how many records they would sell, which isn't a very fair way to judge either a comedian or a magician!"
McPartlin added: "Piers and Simon have a bizarre sense of humour. Things that we and the audience find funny, they just don't get. So it's really tough for the comedians."
However, McPartlin conceded that "most of the time, [Cowell] gets it right".
