The Britain's Got Talent singer, whose version of 'I Dreamed A Dream' from Les Miserables has become an internet sensation, told judges that she would one day like to be as good as the musical theatre star.
Judge Piers Morgan said that Boyle's voice is worthy of comparison to Paige, who has now voiced her support for the 47-year-old Scottish spinster.
The BBC Radio 2 broadcaster said: "It seems her performance has really captured the hearts of everyone who saw it, me included.
"Ever since Susan's appearance on Britain's Got Talent, my Radio 2 inbox has been flooded with emails. It looks like I have competition! Perhaps we should record a duet?"
Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond has sent Boyle a letter of congratulations following her appearance on the ITV show, while Ashton Kutcher praised the performance and said that watching it had made his night.
