The presenter, who fronts ITV2 spinoff Britain's Got More Talent, appeared to let their fate slip during an interview on This Morning.
Father-and-son duo Demetrios and Lagi Demetriou won unanimous praise from the judges when they auditioned with their own interpretation of Riverdance earlier this year.
However, discussing the hopefuls with Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield, Mulhern revealed: "I'd love to see Stavros Flatley in. They were brilliantly funny - but sadly I don't think they will be."
Asked to clarify his remarks, he replied: "Um - they might be [in the finals]. Oh come on! I'm going to get in so much trouble."
Viewers will see judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden making their choices for the live shows on Saturday night.
