The Scottish singer, who finished runner-up in the ITV reality show, is reported to have completed her first song during a brief break from the ongoing live tour.
Speaking to People, he said: "She sounds fantastic on the record. She's so good, the album is not going to be show tunes. We're going to take our time with this."
It is understood that the 48-year-old star, who was hospitalised for exhaustion earlier this year, also visited the Sony Music headquarters in London for a meeting with executives last week.
An insider has claimed that Boyle was told that she could walk away from the project at any time, adding: "There's no pressure on her to do this at all."
