The reality TV judge spoke about the latest auditions for the ITV1 show at the launch of her friend Gina Hemmings's new beauty salon.
"I think with Susan Boyle you have to realise it will never be repeated in history again - not for the next 20 years anyway," she told the Daily Mail.
"You have to keep that as a moment of history and then just get on with the rest of the show and not look back. But everyone obviously has higher expectations because of her.
"People now know that it's not just about winning £100,000 and being on the Royal Variety show, it's about potentially going global. It has changed the whole idea of the show."
Holden also confirmed reports that there had been a shortage of talent during recent auditions in Cardiff.
"We've had some really fun days for all the wrong reasons. We've just had a couple of dodgy days in Cardiff. It can only get better," she said.
Britain's Got Talent returns to ITV1 later this year.
