The classical performance artist, who won the ITV1 reality series in 2007, will trek from his hometown of Port Talbot, Wales to London to raise money for SOS Children.
Potts will set off on March 18, walking an average of 30 miles a day. He will pass Cardiff, Newport, Chepstow, Chippenham, Hungerford, Reading and Windsor, before reaching Heathrow Airport, where he will take a fight to Seoul, South Korea. The singer will perform a TV concert in Seoul, before flying home to complete his walk to London.
His walk will end at the Royal Albert Hall, where he is performing at the Classic Response fundraising concert on April 3. Potts is hoping to raise over £20,000 for SOS Children with his efforts.
"When I was asked to take part with Classic Response for SOS Children's efforts in Haiti, I said count me in," said Potts.
"The cause has since become my own which is why I've chosen to conduct my own fundraising walk in the hope that, with our combined efforts, we can raise the funds required to help the orphans of Haiti with the medical care, food and education they so desperately need."
