Cowell has frequently spoken out about his passion for dogs, admitting last year that he was hoping to find "the new Lassie" on the reality show.
The presenters claimed that the new judging panel's selection of acts for the live semi-finals included a number of canine performers, which would keep the show's boss happy.
New judge David Hasselhoff claimed that "a fantastic dog act" had been one of his personal favourite audtions.
Cowell will return to the ITV1 reality show for the live shows later in the year after missing the audition stages, due to his schedule in the US.
However, not all the animal contestants proved successful as Michael McIntyre confessed that he was left "crying with laughter" by a dog double act.
"There were acts that were so bad they were hilarious. My favourite is probably these two tiny dogs who looked identical and both had to complete an assault course," he said. "One of them got everything right and the other one got everything wrong, I was crying with laughter."
Britain's Got Talent starts on Saturday at 8.20pm on ITV1.
