The 17-year-old Never Say Never star has revealed that he watched Collings's performance on the ITV1 talent show and was impressed by his rendition of Tracy Chapman's 'Fast Car'.
"He really was an amazingly talented guy," Bieber told The Sun. "I am sure his life will never be the same again.
"It's a cliché but these shows were designed for people like Michael. You'd think, after Susan Boyle, people would be prepared for the unexpected. But I still don't think anybody expected that. I know we are only one show into the season, but I am guessing he must be a big favourite already."
Collings's performance was the number one watched clip on YouTube in the UK yesterday, while the Tracy Chapman track he performed has also shot up the iTunes chart.
