The former X Factor judge has been linked to a role on the show, while reports claim that David Hasselhoff won't return for a second series. Amanda Holden's pregnancy has also put her position on the panel in doubt.
Discussing a possible role for Cole on the show, Ant & Dec told the Daily Star: "Cheryl would be great on the show and we've heard Simon [Cowell] wants her for it. We love her as a fellow Geordie, so we'll always back her.
"And at least we'll be able to understand her and she'll be able to understand us, so that'd be one problem out of the way."
The duo also told The Sun that 'Someone Like You' star Adele would be a "good" addition to the show, adding: "She's been there and is down to earth."
Show boss Cowell recently revealed that Cole - currently visiting soldiers in Afghanistan - was due to join Britain's Got Talent as a judge but pulled out days before filming began, leaving Holden to fill the role.
