Simon Cowell's egg-thrower Natalie Holt: Who is she?

By
A Hungarian shadow theatre act won Britain's Got Talent on Saturday night. But nobody really cares about that anymore. The only TV event that anyone is talking about this morning is Natalie Holt's eggs-citing stage invasion, eggs-cellent throwing arm, and the slightly whiffy smell coming from Simon Cowell's changing rooms on Sunday morning.

But what exactly do we know about the woman that cracked (geddit!) her way into the headlines on Saturday night?

Here are 10 facts that we do know about the eggs-treme talent show protester.

1. Thanks to the wonders of Twitter, we know for sure that Natalie is a "maker of music", a "viola player in Raven Quartet" and a "hater of cotton wool".

2. Raven Quartet are Holt, Stephanie Benedetti, Rachael Lander and Kirsty Mangan. They create "inventive interpretations of the hard-hitting rock tracks" and apparently have "a host of celebrity fans". They claim to have formed over "a very spicy pizza in Soho".

3. You may previously have heard of Raven when they acted as the resident string quartet on BBC celeb reality show Maestro, or possibly when they auditioned on Britain's Got Talent one year ago. Yes, this Saturday wasn't Cowell's first meeting with Natalie.

4. She may have a few questions to answer when she goes to her next band rehearsal. Her violin pals wrote on Twitter at the weekend: "Natalie's decision to do what she did on Saturday eve was never discussed with the group or our manager; she acted entirely alone. We'd never condone such a disturbance."

5. Away from Raven, Natalie bills herself as being "at the forefront of London's new breed of emerging film composers". Her recent major projects have included working on the BAFTA-nominated score for the BBC's Great Expectations and the Spanish feature film Animals.

6. Her musical talents stretch beyond the violin and viola. She can also bash out a tune on a piano, mouth organ, guitar and Chinese harp. Impressive.

7. Natalie's most impressive CV credits include playing for Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace, touring with George Michael and performing with Madness at the Olympics closing ceremony.

8. You can watch some of Natalie in action below. It's the sort of rousing stuff that would probably normally get a warm round of applause from Simon Cowell on Britain's Got Talent.

9. Natalie hasn't tweeted since December last year, when she commented on the US petition to get Piers Morgan thrown out of the US. "Thinking about starting a petition to stop Piers Morgan being sent back over..." joked Natalie. What a shame the ex-tabloid hack is no longer on the BGT panel. Who wouldn't want to see Piers get omelette on his face?

10. Natalie's boyfriend Chris Waitt is one of her few defenders today. "She objects to those kind of shows and to Simon Cowell and what he represents to the music industry," said the musician and movie-maker. "She's certainly not after personal publicity, she just wanted to make a point. Anyone who feels sorry for Simon Cowell needs their head examined." Waitt was the creator and star of the film A Complete History of My Sexual Failures, which caused a bit of a stir in 2008.
