The Durham-based estate agent is said to be thrilled after being "besieged" by visits from admirers since he made his TV debut in March.
Taylor's alleged behaviour comes in spite of reports that he is "blissfully happy" after reuniting with his Apprentice co-star Kate Walsh.
A female worker at jewellery shop Le Beado, next to Taylor's estate agency, told the Daily Star Sunday: "I'm sorry to say that he loves himself. We get people coming in and asking whether 'Phillip from The Apprentice' works next door. We tell them he does and they go and ask for him. He absolutely loves it."
She added: "The other day he was sitting in his Audi A4 listening to himself on the show. I don't know whether he has just recorded himself but I thought: 'What a big-head!' He acts like he's the king of Durham."
Noorul Choudhury became the latest candidate to be fired by Sir Alan Sugar in Wednesday night's episode of the BBC One reality series.
