The BBC decided to push back the sixth series to the summer after the businessman's role as the Labour Party's "enterprise tsar" amid the general election led to complaints from the Conservatives.
Sugar told The Daily Telegraph: “The point is that it was a nonsense from the very beginning. The BBC Trust decided that the person objecting to my participation in a programme that was broadcast during an election was wrong.
"But they advised the executive of the BBC that perhaps they should be mindful of letting me be on air while an election was on. And that's the decision they made. It's not one that I agreed with."
He added: "We've seen [Andrew] Lloyd Webber on TV in the middle of the election as you saw the other day with his television programme on Saturday, and we saw him in The Sun newspaper last week saying that he backs Mr Cameron. So you can imagine how frustrated I am to see this kind of anomaly."
While the airdate for this year's Apprentice is yet to be confirmed, spinoff Junior Apprentice launches this Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
