The former contestant said that he thinks Mountford's replacement Karren Brady may "come into her own" in the full series, but argued that she has struggled with the Junior spinoff.
"Margaret's got a very dry, sharp wit about her and we haven't seen that come out of Karren Brady," he told DS.
"Possibly on a business level Karren's observations are going to be more relevant because Margaret's a lawyer but on the dry wit side, I think she is going to be missed."
He continued: "On the other hand, you can't stick anything too sharp in there anyway because you're dealing with kids in this series. Karren might really come into her own when she's dealing with adults and can take a much firmer line.
"I think she is actually the most appropriate person to take over from Margaret."
Junior Apprentice continues next Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
