Alex Britez Cabral has claimed that Lord Sugar got it wrong in firing him from The Apprentice.

The 28-year-old became the second candidate axed from the BBC One show tonight after the boys' team lost out again in a mobile phone app design task.

Cabral was the surprise pick from Sugar after he opted to give project manager Leon Doyle, who was also in the bottom three in the first task, a second lifeline.

Speaking to DS about his departure, he said: "In no way am I being ungracious. I understand that the process is about Lord Sugar putting everyone under scrutiny and his final verdict, but we had a PM who made the major decisions on the task and was in the boardroom for the second week on the trot."

Cabral also backed Glen Ward's criticism of Doyle, who kept changing his mind over who to take back into the boardroom, agreeing that he behaved like "a chicken".

"You have got to be, whatever else happens in this process, true to yourself," he said. "I think if he is being labelled a chicken now, that's his own fault."

The Apprentice continues next Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
