Glenn Ward has said that the scenes in the boardroom on The Apprentice are not scripted.

The senior design engineer was fired from the show this week and told Broxbourne Scene that he did not do enough to defend himself when up against Jim Eastwood and Susan Ma in the final part of the programme.

"The boardroom is not scripted and Karren [Brady] and Nick [Hewer] advise Lord Sugar based on their observations of the task," Ward said.

"So you are on your own in the boardroom to make sure you have highlighted everything you have done."

He added: "I didn't push hard enough in the boardroom. Jim and Susan were tearing into each other and I didn't push myself forward enough.

"The boardroom is very intense, you have to think on your feet and highlight other people's flaws. You really have to differentiate yourself from others so that you stand out in front of Lord Sugar."
