'The Apprentice': Week 8 Recap

Published Thursday, May 17 2007, 08:35 BST | By Nick Levine
This week on The Apprentice, Sir Alan set an advertising task. He challenged the teams to create a brand name and logo for a pair of trainers, before producing a TV advert and billboard poster to advertise them. He appointed Jadine and Ghazal as team leaders.

Jadine's team created a brand called 'Street'. Their TV advert and poster conveyed the message that we should "reclaim the street".

Ghazal's team created a brand called 'Jam'. Their TV advert and poster conveyed the message that "music is everything".

After receiving feedback from leading advertising executives, Sir Alan decided that Jadines's team had won the task. Although their campaign was far from faultless, it had at least managed to convey its message successfully. Ghazal's campaign, by contrast, was found to lack an overreaching idea. Unforgivably, her TV advert had failed to mention the 'Jam' brand name until its final frame.

Jadine's team were rewarded with a trip to central London's Savoy Hotel, where there were taught to mix cocktails.

Ghazal chose to bring Katie and Naomi into the boardroom. After an energetic, noisy battle, in which Katie's negative body language was criticised, Sir Alan decided to fire Ghazal. The 23-year-old, he reasoned, was too keen to "argue for the sake of arguing".
