Gutted Greco given boot from 'The Match'
Published Friday, Oct 6 2006, 09:18 BST | By Ben Rawson-Jones
Former Eastenders star Michael Greco was the fourth player dropped by the public from the celebrity squad on Sky One's The Match this week.
Claiming that manager Graham Taylor's decision to place him on 'the bench' for a second time was "unfair", aggrieved Greco stated: "I can perform on the day. I'm a big game player". In a head to head with Craig Kelly, he polled fewer public votes after fellow nominee Glenn Lamont was unanimously saved by the rest of the squad.
Predicting that the celebrities will win 2-1 at St James's Park on Sunday, 36-year-old Greco - almost twice the age of some of the side - vowed to be back in contention for next year's The Match: "I'll do it again as long as my legs keep going."
