Speaking to GMTV, Bovey described the Hell's Kitchen chef as "very complicated".
"Marco is just very complicated," he revealed. "And as for me not showing any humility, I didn't understand that remark at all."
The entrepreneur, who is married to fellow contestant Anthea Turner, defended himself over the celebrity chef's remarks.
"I was on the mash service for the first time and the service was two-and-a-half hours that night, which was twice as long as any other night we'd done, and we had a lot more people in.
He added: "I didn't want to call upon Marco because I wanted to prove to Marco that I could do it on my own."
Last night, Bovey became the second contestant to be sacked from Hell's Kitchen.
