5.2m watch Evans win 'Hell's Kitchen'

Last night's finale of Hell's Kitchen performed well for ITV1, according to the latest viewing figures.

A series high of 5.15m (21.3%) tuned in at 9pm to see Linda Evans become the winner of the celebrity cooking show.

The previous high for this series was the opener, which took 5.03m (20.9%) on Monday, April 13.

The show was beaten by the second episode of BBC One's Ashes To Ashes, which averaged 5.87m (24.3%), a drop of 1.14m from last week's episode.

Channel 4's fourth and final Henry VIII: Mind Of A Tyrant managed 1.68m (7%), while Five's Extreme Fishing With Robson Green was seen by 1.06m (4.4%).

The latest episode of Heroes put in 1.13m (4.6%) for BBC Two.

Five's The Gadget Show grabbed 1.15m (5%) during the 8pm hour, just behind Dispatches: Crash - How Long Will It Last?, which logged 1.3m (5.6%) for Channel 4.

A special visit to Hell's Kitchen interested 3.38m (14.9%) between 8pm and 8.30pm, ahead of the finale, while BBC One's Panorama, which examined the fallout for an NHS whistle-blower, drew 2.78m (11.9%) at 8.30pm.

Over on BBC Two, the second episode of Wainwright Walks pulled in 2.07m (9.1%) at 8pm. The audience then fell to 1.87m (8%) during the 8.30pm transmission of Nigella Express.

Overall, ITV1 came top during primetime with an average share of 24.3% to BBC One's 23.2%. Channel 4 was third with 5.7% (+1: 0.5%), followed by BBC Two with 6.1% and Five's 4.2%.

Elsewhere, 502k (2.3%) tuned in for the latest 24 episode on Sky1 at 9pm, while BBC Four weather documentary Winds attracted 408k (1.9%).
